The Mod Squad
Comment moderation is back on.
Do you know how fucking sick I am of this?
Legion was banned long ago. I let Legion in for laughs. Mistake.
Corrected now. Good-bye, Legion.
UPDATED: It's off. Jump on me, kill each other, what do I care - I'm having a bad week, okay?
SECOND UPDATE: Everything is better. If you want a laugh, check out my eviceration of Legion here. Sorry, Chimpy, but war is war.

Yeah, Butthead made a pass at my blog, but apparently wasn't aware that I don't have to moderate all comments to moderate his.
Heh heh.
I'm sure he's out shopping for a new name and IP as we speak, but it won't do him any good.
Kisses Kristine

Don't reward teh troll!
Well, I'm going to a show, so I can't release comments for a while - too bad, Moldy Goldy. I guess you'll have to find someplace else to snap bra straps.
If only you knew where they were, that is, Legion.
Kisses, JanieBelle!
One of the characteristics of trolls us their inability to give up their addictions to harassment.
Last night, Atheist Experience turned on moderation. Immediately, "Dan" created an image meant to look like a snapshot of Martin banning and publishing IP addresses, hosted it on the Iron Chariots Wiki without permission, and posted it to the atheist experience blog, Possum Mama's blog, and my blog within minutes of each other, with a label accusing Martin of erasing all dissenting opinion from the atheist experience blog.
dan's account at iron chariots has been banned, and his blogger profile has disappeared too, possibly as a result of abuse reports.
Where the IP addresses can be screwed up by Blogger (*I did not post from New Zealand*) and where IP spoofing makes the automatic filtration of fools posts impossible - you now have to devote precious time to approve every post.
That can only lead to long delays, less diversity and a bigger headache for the Muse.
I hope this doesn't sound the death knell for the Amused Muse - she seems to have become Melpomene because of the posts of Legion.
I'd wager that Legion is a 15-year-old antisocial twit who enjoys wasting other people's time.
GRO
No, no death knell, not at all. This has happened before.
But it certainly says someting about Legion (and JAD, and VMartin) that they are banned whereas DaveScot is free to come back and sockittome anytime - JAD is hands-down the worst commenter I've had! VMartin really brings out the worst in him. I tolerated outrageous stuff from JAD because he's a semi-senile old fart.
Which I think Legion is. Not a fifteen-year-old - Legion reminds me of the local old Russian expat who freaked out about the May Day Parade. ("Communism! Collectivism! People shouldn't march in streets with flags!" Etc. Not even tie-dye flags, I guess.)
Kristine, I really wish someone would make a disemvoweler for blogger for you. I've looked and looked, but can't find one. I know just enough about Javascript to be dangerous, or I'd adapt the WP one.
I just got a greasemonkey script for WP for diemvoweling, plus a really funny one called "LochNessJesus" that can be configured to change all the religious language in a comment to Loch Ness Monster and Indiana Jones references.
I've uh... tweaked that a bit, and I'm dying to have my next troll come by.
One cool thing about WP is that you can set moderation so that a commenter goes to the moderation queue until their first comment gets published. It doesn't matter what IP or what info they plug in, the comments don't get through.
Even if Legion tricks me into letting the first comment through by being innocuous and deceptive, the second the troll comes out, he goes back to moderation, without affecting anyone else.
If he then changes IP and info, he's back to square one.
Sweet.
Holy Crap!
I just tested it on a volunteer.
It automatically changes the name of the commenter, and links it to the Wiki page on disemvoweling.
All at the press of one button.
Geez, that's some funny shiite!
It's just that I'm swamped with work and can't be bopping ovah heah all the time, checking out what (oh dammit, we just got an all-staff message to get out of our work e-mail NOW *sigh*) you guys are saying and doing.
This won't take long.
Although if the Big Green Marker works for my primitive blog, sockittome, JanieBelle!
Legion once wished my sponsor children dead.
I can't think of anything worse that you could do. Tally-ho, I say.
Email on its way, Dear.
