Amused Muse

Inspiring dissent and debate and the love of dissonance

Location: Surreality, Have Fun Will Travel, Past Midnight before a Workday

Master's Degree holder, telecommuting from the hot tub, proud Darwinian Dawkobot, and pirate librarian belly-dancer bohemian secret agent scribe on a mission to rescue bloggers from the wholesome clutches of the pious backstabbing girl fridays of the world.

I'm in grad school, and leaving soon for Washington, DC, and moving out of my now-former house (and in fact moving to a new town), and in a new relationship, and don't be worried if your comment doesn't appear right away. It will (unless you're Legion, JAD, or VMartin - these three are banned).

In case you need something to talk about, here's a film that I highly recommend. (I have the book in the original German and will attempt to read it when I have time.)

It's Called Stealing

Prudish twit reads [probably an achievement in itself] library book, is scandalized, checks out both copies and refuses to return them. Jo Ann, get your Karkass back to the library pronto and pay your fines! Or maybe I'll check out a whole bunch of bibles and sit on them. Yeah, let's all start censoring now. Great.

UPDATED: Jo Ann won't stop censoring. So it has come to this.

Damn right.

Begosh and begorrah, but the morrow be International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Arrr, mateys, greetings to all! First, a mug of the ole ale with Rev. Barky and those wicked wenches JanieBelle and Kate. Second, we tie Rich Hughes to the mast! Third, we make AFDave shimmy the plank! Wha-ho! Ignore me video, Davey, you scurvy knave-y!

(Navy, get it? Navy. Heh.)

Speaking of the navy, who remembers this song:

We joined the navy to see the world,
And what did we see:
We saw the sea!
We saw the Pacific and the Atlantic, but the Artlantic isn’t romantic, and the Pacific isn’t what it’s cracked up to be!

We joined the navy to do or die,
But we didn’t do, and we didn’t die –
We were much too busy looking at the ocean and the sky,
And what did we see:
We saw the sea!
We saw the Atlantic and the Pacific, but the Pacific isn’t terrific, and the Atlantic isn’t what it’s cracked up to be!

They tell us that the admiral is as nice as he can be,
But we never see the admiral,
Because the admiral has never been to sea.

We joined the navy to see the girls,
And what did we see:
We saw the sea!
Instead of a girl or two in a taxi, we were compelled to look at the Black Sea, seeing the Black Sea isn’t what it’s cracked up to be!

Sailing, sailing, home again to see the girls upon the village green
Then across the foam again –
To see the other seas we haven’t seen!

Amused Muse in the Galapagos

On Sunday I will be giving my mini travelogue of my trip to the Galapagos Islands.

I'm still throwing my PowerPoint together in between school/work assignments (arrrg!), but I'll post it after my presentation.
Below is how I look without my makeup on. No, just kidding! ;-)

Open Gripe Thread

I sense an argument brewing in the blether (blogosphere + ether).

Okay, everyone, let's get it out in the open. Come on, put it out there. ;-)
